Background
A customer in the US approached us with a unique idea for payday loans – vet employers and then fund employee loans via payroll.
Situation/Challenge
There was no such software available off the shelf and, based on their USPs, they needed an IT partner who could fully understand their requirements and build a system to fulfill them, included future proofing.
Security was also a key concern as they were processing both personal and financial data.
As this was cutting edge software development, all parties accepted that there would be unknown elements due to the nature of the project.
Solution
After discussions with the customer we produced a project plan and full design document for known elements.
We provided front end website development with separate abstraction API layer for connecting to the database. This meant that the data was easily secured and that there was separation between all parts of the system.
Many interfaces were produced including payment recording, via an API, into customer’s current accounting system.
We also interfaced to SMS systems (for 2FA), document signing (with on-the-fly document creation based on specific requirements per US state) and multiple employer specific payment provider integration.
Loan payment values had to be based on a 1971 paper document detailing US rules for calculating APR rates. We coded this to provide repayment values in real time rather than the standard offering of being submitted for overnight calculation.
